Understanding Credits and Subscriptions in Oasis

Oasis operates on a system of credits + subscriptions. Credits are usage-based while Subscriptions maintain your account with us.

Oasis Tip: Typically, you'll find that one (1) credit is deducted per output or per recording. However, for extended recordings, the credit usage might be higher.

What are credits?

Each AI Rewrite is composed of many pieces, including words, spaces, and punctuation. Instead of direct word count or how long the recording is, Large Language Models (LLM) use a token system that takes all of the components of the spoken or written text and evaluates it for output.

As a result, we use credits to mimic the token system.

How do credits work?

Every AI Rewrite by Oasis consumes at least one (1) credit which is approximately 750 words or around 3 minutes of recording with one (1) AI Rewrite Template selected.

So, that means in most cases, you will use at minimum one (1) credit per output and per recording. This is about 750 words or approximately three (3) minutes of spoken text. If you have long recordings, say 30 minutes, that will take about 10 credits depending on how many words are spoken.

Managing Your Credits

Oasis is oriented towards power users. That means for people who have their templates setup and language sorted, they can quickly enter the app and get results very quickly.

However, as a new user or on a trial membership, it might be more efficient to break the process into steps in a workflow.

Oasis Tip: Slow it down!
Break the workflow into a segmented process to get to know the system.

Try a Segmented Workflow

We recommend using a segmented process when you're starting out. This way you will make sure that you use credits efficiently. There are some default outputs selected (like WeChat or writing a song) that will eat your credits more quickly.

To break it apart into steps, you set Review Transcript to ON.

Step 1: Turn Review Transcript On

In iOS select the More icon, it will reveal the Review Transcript option. Set it to On - Edit Before Rewrite.

On the web and mobile web, select the World icon to reveal the Review Transcript option.

Step 2: Learn the steps in the workflow

When you turn Review Transcript on, it takes some of the automation out of the way and makes simple workflow for you to Review and Edit your transcript, further refine your text and correct spellings, Select Translation or Output Language, and to choose or Create Custom Rewrite Templates.

Step 3: Select only the rewrites that apply to you

Look for the number of rewrites selected. They are indicated in parentheses on this button.

By default, the AI Rewrite function produces five default outputs. Therefore, a standard rewrite session will use a minimum of five (5) credits, depending on the duration of your recording or the length of your input.

The most common issue that makes people use their credits faster than they expect is extra rewrites.

Oasis has five (5) default templates to help you see its potential. You can craft your content seamlessly with our wide range of templates, or created your own. With a segmented process, it's easier to manage which outputs you choose. For now, the following are set by Default. Sometimes we mix it up, but if you're not looking to write song lyrics, you probably want to remove that Rewrite.

Should you leave the default settings selected, that will eat five (5) credits for under a three (3) minute recording. That's a lot if you're trying to manage your credits!

See Oasis Templates for more information about the existing templates and remember, you can always Create Custom Rewrite Templates.
